Audio Description

Pittsburgh's Cultural District is committed to making our performances and facilities available to all of our patrons. If you should have further questions, please call the box office. Audio Description is a service designed for use by the blind and visually impaired. A trained describer details the action, set, props, and costumes seen on stage for the benefit of the audience members. In other words, the describer interprets the visual elements that may be important to someone who cannot see them.

  • Select Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre performances
  • One performance of each PNC Broadway Across America Broadway show
  • Pittsburgh Opera, during Tuesday performances at the Benedum Center, at Pittsburgh CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) School, and at the Pittsburgh Opera headquarters. Audio description service is also offered at Art Song Recitals and the Rising Stars concert at the Pittsburgh Opera Headquarters.
  • Other District Shows may be available upon request
